Dynamic Intelligence Management System (DIMS)

Mining, Analysis Platform for Traffic, Data, and Desktop Content

IntelligenceFocus' product line is targeted to the mining and analysis of information from network flows, text, and desktop content.

At the core of the vendor's offerings is the Dynamic Intelligence Management System (DIMS), which applies vendor proprietary algorithms to data--including live network traffic flows--towards the goal of providing the information in a more readily usable or understandable context. Such activities as behavioral profiling of network traffic, pattern matching, mining of unstructured text, and analysis of desktop content are all listed by the vendor as forte's of the core technology, and targeted uses of the platform include analysis of structured/unstructured information retrieved from the desktop, network traffic, or the Web; automated correlation of data from multiple sources; and alerting services for the delivery of the resulting analysis to appropriate individuals. DIMS is served by the vendor in pre-packaged appliance form (via the DigiProbe appliance--see below) or as an SDK for OEMs or ISVs.

As mentioned above, the vendor offers multiple pre-packaged data analysis and action products based on the DIMS platform; and these in turn are delivered in the form of the DigiProbe appliance, a combined software/hardware offering that is served in both individual boxes and bladed configurations. Individual products served as DigiProbe appliances and based on the DIMS platform include:

- Virtual Decision Support System (VDSS), a self-populating data warehouse (data is automatically mined from live data, including business processes and network communications) targeted to scenarios such as auditing, compliance, performance monitoring, etc.

- Web Data Crawler (WDC), which crawls data from open sources such as Web sites and blogs and creates structured databases from the information collected

- Smart Assistant, which analyzes actions performed by desktop PC users on pre-selected applications, and reports non-compliant or errant behaviors with the ability to supply guidance to the user

- All Source Analysis System (ASAS), with the ability to locate and examine data in the "hidden Web"

- Community Watchdog, the newest offering from the vendor, targeted specifically to operators/managers of social network Web sites. Community Watchdog can monitor inbound and outbound traffic and user-posted content in real-time, dynamically profiling users and behaviors and comparing those profiles to known risks. If a match is detected, it is reported in real-time to appropriate personnel. The vendor states that the profiling behavior is self-learning and updating, and thus improves over time; and targets the platform to such actions as identifying sexual predators in online communities. The vendor states that the platform can scale to monitor communities "...from a few thousand members to tens of millions."
